World Students' Day is celebrated every year on October 15. It marks the birth anniversary of former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. The United Nations declared October 15 as World Students' Day in 2010.
Why is World Students' Day celebrated on APJ
Abdul Kalam's birthday?
Popularly known as the
'Missile Man of India', Kalam was born in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu on October 15,
1931. He served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.
Kalam was not just a
politician and aerospace scientist, but also a teacher. He wanted the world to
remember him as a teacher.
Kalam died on July 27,
2015, doing what he loved - teaching. He was delivering a lecture to the
students of IIM Shillong when he suffered a stroke and fell down the stage.

peace’.
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam quotes
- 1.
If a country is to be
corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there
are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father,
the mother and the teacher.
- 2.
If four things are
followed - having a great aim, acquiring knowledge, hard work, and perseverance
- then anything can be achieved
- 3.
Look at the sky. We are
not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the
best to those who dream and work
- 4.
Real education enhances
the dignity of a human being and increases his or her self-respect. If only the
real sense of education could be realized by each individual and carried
forward in every field of human activity, the world will be so much a better
place to live in..
- 5.
Teaching is a very noble
profession that shapes the character, caliber, and future of an individual. If
the people remember me as a good teacher, that will be the biggest honour for
me
